The Power of Friendship

The magic that mentoring brings to our community is alive and well as experienced by our Matches. Special congratulations go out to former Little Sister Brandie and her husband Jason Callender who were married on April 7th, 2011! By Brandie's side was her maid of honor, Little Sister Sara. These wonderful young women came together as friends through one special person they have shared in their lives: Big Sister Teresa McAllister. Teresa, matched as a mentor to 8-year-old Brandie in 1995, has become like a member of the family during their 16 years of friendship. In 2006, we were excited to welcome back Teresa as Big Sister to 10-year-old Little Sister Sara. Over the last 4 years, Brandie and Sara have become great friends, sharing a bond between two young women who connected through the care and support of one volunteer mentor. The wonderful friendships created between Teresa, Brandie, Sara, and Jason are proof of the power of mentoring. We are so happy for Brandie who has found a caring partner in Jason.
