School Based Be A Mentor "BIG!" » 'Big' Programs » School Based
Change a life . . . one hour at a time.
"I've seen my Little Sister break out of her shell and become more confident and outspoken."
"She gets so excited for Wednesday because that is the day her Big Sister comes."
School-based matches meet once a week for one hour at a time during the child's after-school program. School-based matches stay on the school campus and take advantage of the playground, athletic equipment, games and art supplies.
The school-based program is great for volunteers who:
are college or high school students,
use the bus or a bike to get around,
or are more comfortable meeting in a place where there are other adults around.
High school students mentor because they can have fun playing games with kids, be a positive role model, use the experience on a resume or college application and make a new friend.
Encourage co-workers, fellow church members, and people in your service group to volunteer together. Contact our office to schedule a group meeting.
Applications are accepted in September/October and matches meet on campus at the after-school program for the remainder of the school-year.
The following school is participating in the school-based program this year:
- South Fortuna Elementary School
